Covenant Gaming License · Community Quick Guide
CGL v2.0 · effective October 13, 2026The Covenant Gaming License (CGL) is the community-use path for fan content, actual play, ministry activity, reviews, tutorials, and other defined uses of Open Almond Studios' proprietary game lines. It does not govern the separately licensed IE-SRD rules layer.
Plain-language guide. Use this page for orientation. Where a license, Terms & Conditions, Compatibility Standard, or asset permission applies, that governing document controls.

Apply for a commercial CGL project when you want
Keep the layers separate
Public community and media permissions, plus the framework for project-approved commercial derivatives involving proprietary Open Almond Studios game-line material.
Open rules-content permission for material expressly designated in the Integrity Engine System Reference Document.
Optional compatibility identity and Creator Kit branding for qualifying Integrity Engine works.
Adaptations, co-publishing, unusual reserved-asset uses, or other negotiated rights outside the public CGL and approved commercial-project pathway.
The monetization rule
May ordinarily be monetized under the CGL.
May ordinarily be shared free, but the specific CGL-dependent work cannot itself be the paid benefit.
Supplements, adventures, adaptations, and protected game-line software require a project-specific CGL approval or, for unusual rights outside that program, a separate written agreement.
Public fan-content notice
CGL v2.0 requires publicly distributed CGL-dependent Fan Content to carry a notice substantially like the following when reasonably practicable. This protects both sides: creators can identify the game accurately without implying that Open Almond Studios published or endorsed the work.
Required notice wording
Unofficial fan content. Not published, sponsored, approved, or endorsed by Open Almond Studios, LLC. [Game name]™ and related proprietary Open Almond Studios material are used under the Covenant Gaming License v2.0.
Replace [Game name] with the complete official game title. This wording is part of the public CGL compliance guidance; the Licensing Hub no longer presents CGL material as a copy-ready creator resource.
Common questions
If you want to sell a derivative product, use reserved branding or artwork, make a formal compatibility claim with a specific Open Almond Studios game line, or build commercial game-line-specific software, apply for a commercial CGL project. Uses beyond the CGL project program can still move to a Separate Agreement.
