Cookies are small values stored by your browser. The site may also use local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, pixels, scripts, and similar browser technologies. These tools can remember a choice, maintain account or session state, protect the service, measure performance, or load an optional third-party service.

Some values last only for the current tab or browser session. Others remain until they expire, you remove them, or the feature or provider clears them.

We use necessary first-party and security technologies to operate the site, support sign-in, prevent abuse, remember your privacy choices, and provide features you explicitly request. Optional technologies are used only for the categories and services described below, subject to the regional consent behavior explained in this notice.

Necessary

Always on. Covers security, authentication, privacy-choice storage, and first-party state needed to provide a feature or preference you explicitly request. It does not authorize optional analytics or advertising.

Functional & Commerce

Optional third-party functionality and commerce. The current service in this category is the Spring by Amaze storefront embed.

Analytics

Optional measurement. Current services are Vercel Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights, and Open Almond site usage measurement.

Embeds

Optional third-party media. Current services are YouTube video embeds and X post embeds.

Marketing

Optional advertising and ad measurement. The current service is Google AdSense on selected pages.

• Open Almond first-party storage. The consent record itself is stored in the openalmond_cookie_consent cookie. Other first-party browser storage may hold user-requested state such as display preferences, announcement dismissal, recent-search or saved-post state, editor drafts, temporary authentication flow state, and the temporary Baruch transcript where those features are used. These values support the requested site feature and are not used to load third-party advertising by themselves.
• Firebase Authentication and Firebase App Check / reCAPTCHA. Authentication storage maintains sign-in and account flows. When App Check is enabled, reCAPTCHA is used for security risk analysis; Google states that reCAPTCHA may set the necessary _GRECAPTCHA cookie for that purpose.
• Vercel Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights, and Open Almond site measurement. These are controlled as individual Analytics services. Vercel documents that its Web Analytics does not use cookies and that Speed Insights records anonymous performance data rather than data intended to identify an individual visitor; we nevertheless honor the site Analytics choice before mounting these client-side measurement services.
• Spring by Amaze. The embedded apparel storefront is optional and remains blocked until you allow its Functional & Commerce service. Once loaded, Spring/Amaze and its providers may use cookies, pixels, embedded links, or similar technologies for storefront functionality, settings, authentication, analytics, shopping-cart operations, and related commerce purposes under their own policies.
• YouTube and X. Embedded videos and social posts remain blocked until the corresponding individual Embed service is allowed.
• Google AdSense. Advertising scripts and ad slots remain blocked until the AdSense Marketing service is allowed.
• Ko-fi and GiveSendGo. These are currently ordinary outbound support links, not embedded widgets. Visiting an Open Almond page does not load their widget code; their own cookies or storage become relevant after you choose to follow the external link.

You can return to Cookie Settings at any time to accept, reject, or change optional categories and individual services. In regions where prior consent is required, optional services remain off until you allow them. In other regions, optional services may be enabled by default where permitted, and you can change the same choices at any time.

Your browser can also delete or block cookies and other stored data. Blocking or deleting necessary or user-requested storage may prevent the associated sign-in, security, preference, or site feature from working as expected.

We may update this notice when our services, embedded providers, or storage practices change. The Last Updated date above identifies the current version.
